Like so many of you I look forward to the 4th of July celebration. I got to listen to great patriotic songs at work but got away (for me) early and headed to the store for our feast supplies.
Our gas grill died last week and being a little pressed for cash I bought a charcoal grill and the supplies for it. With the usual 4th supplies in hand (steak and marshmellows for the new grill, potatoes for the potatoe salad, potatoe chips and sour cream... and of course the beer ) I set off for home and our long awaited celebration...... almost.
As I turned on to our street I remembered we had no laundry soap or softener and had a full load in the washer I needed to clean. No problem. Leaving Alan to unpack the truck I took the car back up to Walmart for the soap.
The sun had begun to pale by this point and we discovered that even though an item is cheap, it can still be involved to assemble. Still this was the 4th of July barbecue we were talking about, All the heavens as my witness there will be fire for our steaks!
Stopping only to feed the cats we soldiered on and finally finished the grill to the rocket's red glare from the surrounding neighbours and strated the steaks.
Well ,long story short, we had Microwaved potatoes and mixed veg along with slightly overdone steaks and a beer slushy(using the feezer to chill beer works amazingly fast if you are fighting to put a cheap grill together by porchlight at 9:30 at night)
Still it's the spirit of the day that counts!
Happy 4th everybody and to all a good night
Yeah I know the yard is full of smoke but it's deliberate- nobody worry....
